on the establishment of a committee for drafting the election law of the Constitutional Drafting Assembly entrusted with drafting the permanent constitution of the country

The General National Congress

Upon review of:

• The interim Constitutional Declaration issued on 3 August 2011 and the amendments thereof;
• Law No. (4) of 2012 on the election of the General National Congress, and the amendments thereof;
• Law No. (14) of 2012 determining the electoral districts for the General National Congress elections, and the amendments thereof;
• Law No. (3) of 2012 on the High National Elections Commission, and the amendments thereof;
• The rules of procedure of the General National Congress;
• The results of the seventy-ninth ordinary session of the General National Congress held on 09/04/2013;

issued the following law:

Article (1)

A special committee shall be established, with General National Council (GNC) member Mr Suleiman Awad Faraj Zubi as chairman and the following members:

Article (2)

The committee referred to in Article (1) of this resolution shall draft an election law for the Constitutional Drafting Assembly (CDA) in charge of drafting the country’s permanent constitution as stipulated by the interim Constitutional Declaration and its amendments. This committee shall submit the draft law to the GNC within a maximum period of forty-five days from the date hereof.

Article (3)

The committee shall have to right to make use of any experts, advisors, technicians or any other persons it deems necessary.

Article (4)

The provisions of this resolution shall enter into force from its date of issuance and shall be implemented by all parties, each within their mandate.
