Resolution No. (5) of 2014
adopting a provision relating to the election of an interim head of state
The House of Representatives
Upon review of:
- The Interim Constitutional Declaration issued on 3 August 2011, and the amendments thereof;
- Law No. (10) of 2014 on the election of the House of Representatives for the transitional period;
- Resolution No. (107) of 2014 on declaring the winners of the House of Representatives seats for the transitional period, issued by the High National Elections Commission;
- House of Representatives Resolution No. (1) of 2014 on approving the election of the House of Representatives for the transitional period;
- Article (2) of the House of Representatives Resolution No. (2) of 2014 on the establishment of a committee to draft the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives;
- The conclusions of the eighth ordinary session of the House of Representatives held on Tuesday 12/08/2014;
issued the following resolution:
Article (1)
The interim head of state shall be elected by direct, free, public secret ballot and by the absolute majority of votes.
Article (2)
This resolution shall enter into force from its date of issuance, repealing any contrary provision. It shall be published in the Official Gazette.
