amending Law No. (16) of 1985 AD

on the basic pension

The General National Congress,

Upon review of:

• The interim Constitutional Declaration issued on 03 August 2011 AD and amendments thereto;

• Law No. (13) of 1980 AD on social security, the regulations issued pursuant thereto, and amendments thereto;

• Law No. (16) of 1985 AD on the basic pension and amendments thereto;

• The by-laws of the General National Congress;

• The conclusions of the General National Congress in its eightieth ordinary meeting held on 14/04/2013 AD;

issued the following Law:

Article (1)

Article (13) of the aforementioned Law No. (16) of 1985 AD shall be amended as follows:

The value of the basic monthly pension shall be equivalent to the first grade starting salary, with the pension recipient enjoying the same allowances and privileges established for such grade.

Article (2)

This Law shall come into force on the date of its issue and all provisions conflicting herewith shall be repealed. This Law shall be published in the Official Gazette.
