Law No. (4) of 1997
amending some provisions of Law No. (6) of 1994
on qisas (retribution) and diyya (blood money) provisions
The General People’s Congress
Upon review of:
formulated the following law:
Article (1)
Article (1) of Law No. (6) of 1423 FBP on qisas (retribution) and diyya (blood money) shall be replaced with the following:
Article (1)
Intentional Homicide
The death penalty shall be imposed as retribution against any person who commits intentional homicide. Retribution shall be revoked in the event of amnesty to which such person is entitled. If retribution is revoked by amnesty, penalty shall be the payment of diyya (blood money).
Article (2)
This law shall be published in the Official Gazette and the various media outlets. It shall enter into force from its date of publication in the Official Gazette.

قانون رقم (4) لسنة 1977
بشأن تعديل بعض أحكام القانون رقم (6) لسنة 1423 ميلادية بشأن أحكام القصاص والدية
مؤتمر الشعب العام،
صاغ القانون الآتي:
مادة (1)
ـ يستبدل بنص المادة الأولى من القانون رقم (6) لسنة 1423 ميلادية بشأن القصاص والدية النص الآتي:-
المادة الأولى
القتل عمدا
ـ يعاقب بالإعدام قصاصا كل من قتل نفسا عمدا، ويسقط القصاص بالعفو ممن له الحق فيه فإذا سقط القصاص بالعفو فتكون العقوبة الدية.
مادة (2)
ـ ينشر هذا القانون في الجريدة الرسمية وفي وسائل الإعلام المختلفة ويعمل به من تاريخ نشره في الجريدة الرسمية.
