Amending certain provisions of the Customs Guard Law

 

In the Name of the People,

The Revolutionary Command Council,

Upon review of Constitutional Declaration No. (1) issued on 2 Shawwal 1389 AH,

Corresponding to 11 December 1969 AD,

● Law No. (3) of 1963 on the Customs Guard;

● Law No. (18) of 1964 AD on the Police, as amended;

● Law No. (19) of 1964 AD with respect to Civil Service

as amended; and

● The Council of Ministers Decree issued on 29 Sha’ban 1384 AH, corresponding to

 2 January 1965 AD on the Salary Equivalency Scale for the Customs Guard Force; and

● Based on the submission of the Minister of Treasury and the approval of the Council of Ministers,

 

Issued the following law

 

Article (1)

The provision of Article (9) of Law No. 3 of 1963 AD referred to shall be replaced by the following provision:

1. Salaries of the members of the Customs Guard Force shall be determined according to the salary scale of policemen, provided that the ranks of the members of the Customs Guard Force shall be equal to the ranks of the police as follows:

First: The rank of chief inspector shall be equivalent to the rank of “lieutenant colonel”; the rank of assistant inspector shall be equivalent to the rank of major; the rank of first Inspector shall be equivalent to the rank of “chief”; the rank of inspector shall be equivalent to the rank of “first lieutenant”; and the rank of assistant inspector shall be equivalent to the rank of”second lieutenant”.

Second: The ranks of chief sergeant, corporal, deputy corporal, first soldier and soldier in the Customs Guard shall be deemed equivalent to the ranks of: chief sergeant, corporal, deputy corporal, and newcomer from the ranks of non-commissioned officers and troops in the police, respectively.

2. Members of the Customs Guard Force shall be granted the bonuses and allowances prescribed for the ranks of their police counterparts in accordance with the equivalency formula provided in the previous paragraph.

3. The provisions prescribed in this regard for policemen shall apply with regard to the rules for granting the salaries, bonuses and allowances referred to above.

 

Article (2)

The Minister of Treasury shall implement this law, which shall come into force from 26 Rabi al-Awwal 1390 AH, corresponding to 1 July 1970 AD, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
