Resolution No. (90) of 2013 AD

on authorising the High National Elections Commission

to conduct an opinion poll

The General National Congress,

Upon review of:

• The interim Constitutional Declaration issued on 03 August 2011 AD and amendments thereto;
• General National Congress Resolution No. (62) of 2013 AD on approving the amendment of the Congress’ by-laws;
• Law No. (8) of 2013 AD on establishing the High National Elections Commission;
• Law No. (17) of 2013 AD on electing the Constitution Drafting Assembly;
• The conclusions of the General National Congress in its one hundred and forty-fourth ordinary meeting held on 24 February 2013 AD;

issued the following Resolution:

Article (1)

The High National Elections Commission created under the aforementioned Law No. (8) of 2013 AD shall be authorised to conduct an opinion poll concomitant with the Constitution Drafting Assembly election process, on the following issues:

1. The form of the state
2. The system of governance
3. The state’s official languages
4. The state’s administrative system

Article (2)

The results of the aforementioned opinion poll shall not represent any obligation on the part of the Constitution Drafting Assembly in formulating the draft of the country’s permanent constitution. Such results shall be for informational and guidance purposes.

Article (3)

This Resolution shall enter into force on the date of its issue. The concerned bodies shall implement this Resolution and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.
