Welcome to the Border Management and Irregular Migration Infographic, created by the Libyan Security Sector Legislation Database of DCAF. Over a hundred legal texts and dozens of international standards and best practices on this theme have been compiled, reviewed and categorised to map the legal framework governing this fundamental topic for Libyan security sector governance and reform.
The Infographic, available in Arabic and English, is a multi-layered production of thirteen main categories that capture the sub-themes of the topic. In each category, legal articles within Libya’s national legislation are featured under their relevant international standards and sub-standards. Some international standards and sub-standards are accompanied by explanatory notes, signified by the “i” (Information) icon, with additional details. The user is invited to understand and examine the merits and shortcomings of the Libyan legal framework according to a comparison of each international standard which the featured legal articles should meet.

As a mapping tool, the Infographic provides hyperlinks to the legal texts of featured articles, allowing the user to browse through the Database and read texts in full to understand their context. Sources of international standards have also been referenced through the “+” (plus) sign next to them.
