on temporarily mandating the Minister of Defence with the competencies of the General Commander of the Armed Forces

Upon review of:

• The Interim Constitutional Declaration issued on 3 August 2011, and the amendments thereof;
• General National Congress Resolution No. (9) of 2012 on the appointment of the prime minister and mandating him to form the interim government;
• General National Congress Resolution No. (62) of 2013 on approving the amendment of the General National Congress’ rules of procedure;
• General National Congress Resolution No. (70) of 2013 on the promotion of an officer and his appointment as Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army;
• General National Congress Resolution No. (72) of 2013 on granting a minister the vote of confidence;

issued the following decree:

Article (1)

The Minister of Defence shall be temporarily mandated with the competences of the General Commander of the Armed Forces due to the exceptional circumstances requiring urgent measures to maintain security across Libyan territory.

Article (2)

The provisions of this decree shall enter into force from its date of issuance. Any contrary provision shall be repealed. This decree shall be implemented by all the concerned entities, and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.
