on licensing the possession, sale, and repair of arms and ammunition

The Minister of Interior:

Upon review of:

  • The Law on arms, ammunition, and explosives issued on 6 Rabi’ al-Thani 1387 AH, corresponding to 13/6/1967 AD;
  • Decree No. (233) of 67 liscensing the possession, sale, and repair of arms and ammunition;

has decreed:

Article (1)

Applications for a license to possess, sell, or repair weapons and ammunition as well as applications to renew such licenses shall be submitted to the police station in whose area of jurisdiction the applicant resides. Renewal applications must be submitted at least thirty days before the end of the license term.

Article (2)

License and license renewal applications shall be submitted on the forms listed below, and the license being renewed must be attached to the license renewal application.

  1. Application for a license to possess weapons and ammunition Form No. (1) attached
  2. Application to renew the above license Form No. (2) attached
  3. Application for a license to sell and repair weapons and ammunition Form No. (4) attached
  4. Application to renew the above license Form No. (5) attached

Article (3)

Station officers shall forward the application including their notes thereon to the competent security director within a period of not more than thirty days from the date the application is received.

Article (4)

Licenses to possess weapons and ammunition shall be issued on Form No. (3), attached, and licenses to sell and repair weapons and ammunition on Form No. (6), attached.

Article (5)

Decree No. (233) of 67 liscensing the possession, sale, and repair of weapons and ammunition shall be repealed.

Article (6)

This Decree shall enter into force on the date of its issue, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.

Notes:

  1. This is a personal authorization and may not be transferred to a third party.
  2. The validity location set out in the licence may not be changed except by prior written permission from the Minister of Interior or representative thereof.
  3. To renew the license, a renewal request must be submitted at least thirty days before the end of the license term.
  4. The licensee must adhere to all provisions of the Law of Weapons and Ammunition and other laws, regulations, and decrees issued pursuant thereto including the decree specifying the quantity of weapons allowed each year to importers or merchants.
