Decree No. (266) of 1994 on professional and technical raises of a special character for members of the police force

The General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security

Decree No. (266) of 1994 AD on Professional,

Technical and Special-Nature Bonuses for Police Members

 

The General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security,
Upon review of:

  • Law No. (15) of 1981 AD on the Salary System of National Workers in the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya;
  • Law No. (10) of 1992 AD on Security and Police, as amended;
  • Law No. (3) of 1423 FBP on the General People’s Committee;
  • The Cabinet Resolution issued on 20/03/1975 AD on Professional and Technical Bonuses for Policemen; and
  • The minutes of the first meeting of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security in 1423 FBP,

 

has decreed the following:

Article (1) 

Technicians and professionals working in the Police shall be divided, according to the nature of their work, the length of their experience or their qualifications, into the following categories: 

1. Technician or Professional Supervisor; 

2. Excellent Technician or Professional; 

3. Skilled Technician or Professional; 

4. Technician or Professional; and 

5. Assistant Technician or Professional. 

The Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security shall issue a decree to identify the technical, professional and special-nature jobs of the Police and apply the above categorization thereto.

 

Article (2) 

The technical, professional and special-nature bonuses awarded to Police members shall be specified as a percentage of the basic salary, as indicated below: 

1. Technician or Professional Supervisor: Twenty Percent (20%) 

2. Excellent Technician or Professional: Twenty Percent (20%) 

3. Skilled Technician or Professional: Twenty Percent (20%) 

4. Technician or Professional: Twenty-Five Percent (25%) 

5. Assistant Technician or Professional: Twenty-Five Percent (25%)

 

Article (3) 

The bonuses provided for in this Decree shall be paid in the cases entitling salary payment and shall be suspended upon the suspension of salary. Such bonuses shall be constantly paid throughout the period of carrying out the technical, professional or special-nature job. 

The payment of such a bonus to those entitled thereto shall be by a decision of the Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security.

 

Article (4) 

The Cabinet’s Resolution on Professional and Technical Bonuses for Policemen referenced above and any other provision that is contrary to the provisions of this Decree shall be repealed.

 

Article (5) 

This Decree shall enter into force as of the beginning of the Gregorian month following the date of its issuance, and shall be published in the official gazette.
