Decree No. (274) of 1423 BFP

on the Conditions and Rules of Giving Financial and Moral Rewards

for the Work of Excellence Performed by Members of the Police

The General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security,
Upon review of:

• Law No. (10) of 1992 AD on the Security

and Police, as amended; and

• The minutes of the first meeting of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security in

1423 FBP,

has decreed the following:

Article (1)

In implementing of this Decree, the following acts by members of the Police shall be considered work of excellence: 

Acts demonstrating superior courage, special initiative or sacrifice. In order to for an act to be deemed a work of excellence, a recommendation to this effect shall be made by a committee to be formed by a decree of the Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security. Such committee shall be chaired by the Undersecretary for Security Affairs and consisted of three members to be selected from among the general directors. 

Article (2)

A member of the Police who performs a work of excellence may be granted an award to be determined by the committee referred to in the above Article, while taking into consideration the nature and circumstances of the work. A decision of awarding a financial reward shall be issued by the Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security. 

Article (3)

In addition to the financial reward set out in the previous Article, the member of the Police may be awarded a badge of the work of excellence performed by the same to be placed to the upper left of the chest. 

A decree by the Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security shall identify the specifications and shape of the (Badge of Work of Excellence), the material to be used in the manufacturing thereof, the conditions and rules of awarding the same, and the benefits associated with the entitlement to and carrying the same. The aforementioned badge shall be awarded only once throughout the service of the member of the Police Department by a decree of the Secretary of the General People’s Committee for Justice and Public Security.

Article (4)

This Decree shall enter into force as of the date of its issuance and shall be implemented by the competent entities and published in the official gazette.
