on setting a date for the handover to the House of Representatives

and convening the same

The General National Congress

Upon review of:

  • The Constitutional Declaration issued on 3 August 2011, and the amendments thereof;
  • The General National Congress Resolution No. (62) of 2013 on approving the amendment of the General National Congress’ rules of procedure;
  • Law No. (10) of 2014 on the election of the House of Representatives in the transitional period;
  • The February Committee proposal approved by virtue of Constitutional Amendment No. (7);
  • High National Elections Commission Resolution No. (107) of 2014 on declaring the winners of House of Representatives seats in the transitional period;

issued the following law:

Article (1)

The handover from the General National Congress (GNC) to the House of Representatives elected for the transitional period shall take place on Monday 04/08/2014.

Article (2)

The eldest member of the House of Representatives shall be called to chair the first session thereof following the handover ceremony. The youngest member shall be called to act as rapporteur.

Article (3)

The GNC Office shall announce the location of the handover and the first session a sufficient time in advance. All GNC and House of Representatives members shall be notified through the various media and available means of communication.

Article (4)

The provisions of this decree shall enter into force from its date of issuance. It shall be implemented by all the concerned entities.
