Resolution No. (12) of 2012 AD

on suspending elections of members of local councils

The General National Congress,

Upon review of:

• The Constitutional Declaration issued on 03 August 2011 AD and amendments thereto;
• The rules of procedure of the General National Congress;
• Law No. (59) of 2012 AD on local administration;
• The content of the General National Assembly session held on 16/10/2012 AD;

has issued the following Resolution:

Article (1)

All procedures related to local council elections that have not been completed prior to the date this Resolution is issued shall be suspended in all cities and areas.

Article (2)

The Cabinet shall issue the implementing regulations for Law No. (59/2012 AD) on the local administration system.

Article (3)

This Resolution shall enter into force on 16/10/2012 AD and shall be published in the Official Gazette. Any provision that conflicts with those of this Resolution shall be repealed.
