Resolution No. (5) of 2014

on stopping and preventing the reception of some satellite channel broadcasts

The General National Congress

Upon review of:

• The Interim Constitutional Declaration issued on 3 August 2011, and the amendments thereof;
• The rules of procedure of the General National Congress;
• The conclusions of the General National Congress in its 160^th ordinary session held on Tuesday 20 Rabi’ al-Awwal1435 AH corresponding to 21/01/2014 AD;

issued the following resolution :

Article (1)

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Telecommunications, and Information, each within its mandate, shall be assigned to take the necessary procedures to stop and prevent the reception of all satellite channels that oppose the February 17 Revolution or aim to destabilise the country or incite strife and division among Libyans.

Article (2)

The government shall take all necessary procedures against countries or companies that broadcast the aforementioned channels and abstain from or neglect taking serious measures to help stop their broadcast and prevent their continued practices as stated in Article (1) of this resolution.

Article (3)

The provisions of this resolution shall enter into force from its date of issuance. Any contrary provision shall be repealed. This resolution shall be published in the Official Gazette and the available media outlets. It shall be implemented by all the concerned entities.
