on the amendment of Law No. (2) of 2001

on the organisation of political and consular work

The National Transitional Council

Upon review of:

  • The Victory Statement of the 17 February Revolution issued on 22 February 2011;
  • The decision forming the Interim National Transitional Council and specifying its competences;
  • The statute and internal regulation of the National Transitional Council;
  • The Constitutional Declaration issued on 3 August 2011;
  • Law No. (2) of 2001 on the organisation of political and consular work, and the executive regulation thereof;
  • Law No. (21) of 2012 amending Law No. (2) of 2001 on the organisation of political and consular work, and the executive regulation thereof;
  • Public interest considerations;

issued the following law:

Article (1)

Article (14), Paragraph (1) of Law No. (2) of 2001 on the organisation of political and consular work shall be amended as follows:

“Heads of diplomatic missions, consuls and delegates to international and regional organisations shall be delegated to work abroad by a Cabinet decree based on the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Members and other employees of the diplomatic corps, as well as technical attachés nominated by their respective ministries, shall be delegated by a decision by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.”

Article (2)

This law shall enter into force from its date of issuance, and any contrary provision shall be repealed. It shall be published in the Official Gazette
